OUR SESSIONS

The knowledge you gain will empower your birth experience

Having used The Wise Hippo Birthing Programme for both of my daughters births; I’m delighted to share the amazing antenatal education, tools & techniques that I can testify really do work; to help others also have a positive birth experience.

Session One

Session one is aimed at opening your mind to a new way of thinking; and ensuring that your mind is working for you, versus against you. If you or your birth partner have any scepticism about how hypnobirthing can benefit you; I will also take you through the science behind it all. Through the knowledge that you’ll learn in this class, and the trance/relaxation session I will be doing with you; you will finish the session feeling much more confident and empowered. 

We look at:

What is ‘The Right Birth’ – how to achieve the right birth for you and what this is

Remove any myths around hypnosis – as said, no swinging pendulums or performing like animals here!

Understand how the body interprets PAIN – and learn how to manage and control it

Physiology of birth – and how counterproductive the emotion of fear can be during labour & birth

How we learn new ways of thinking – it’s time to change those outdated negative beliefs so your new ways of thinking become natural and instinctive

Protect yourself from the negativity of others – you’ll learn a simple yet powerful technique to protect you from others negativity around childbirth; and ensure only positive thoughts & suggestions of labour & birth are able to impact you

Control your thoughts – removing those worry/’what if’ thoughts so that you can really enjoy your pregnancy and look forward to the birth without fear or anxiety getting in the way

Session Two

In session two you will learn to become an expert in relaxation for the remainder of your pregnancy and during labour & birth. We will focus on the techniques that will help you remain calm and how your birth partner can support you with these. 

We look at:

 

Relaxation – what it means to truly let our mind relax 

Distractions – how we can learn to let go and in turn emotionally control our actions

The power of breath – techniques to use for between and during surges (contractions); so, your mind can simply drift off 

Anchors – powerful triggers to use to aid you moving easily into deep relaxation with the support of your birth partner 

Birth partner – practical session for you and your birth partner to practise the techniques you have acquired thus far 

Session Three

In session three we discover how your emotions are connected to your baby’s and the power of bonding with baby during your pregnancy. We focus on the physical preparations for birth such as writing your birth plan; to help understand what is and isn’t important to you when birthing your baby. We also do a Fear Release session to help alleviate any negativity that you may be subconsciously holding onto. 

We look at:

 

Understand how to - connect emotionally & physically with your baby before they’re born 

Pelvic Floor - to help prepare your body for birth and after

Your birth plan – spending time discussing with your birth partner what is important to you for your birth to help you make sure you have what you what on the day both on a practical & emotional level

Where to have you baby – looking at the available options in the UK currently

 

Alternative options for promoting comfort – you can of course have drugs, but we also look at more natural ways to help promote comfort in your body 

Estimated Due Dates & Nudges of Encouragement – research on your EDD along with natural nudges of encouragement you can give to baby, to arrive

Antenatal practical advice – for During Labour, Birthing Your Baby and After Your Baby is Born

Experience a Fear Release session – enabling you to release any emotional issues, fears and concerns that you have, clearing your mind of all potential negativity, in order to enable you to focus on your labour & birth in a more positive confident way

Session Four

The focus in session four is providing information to your Birth Partner so that they can best support you both practically & emotionally on the day. Everything from spotting the onset of labour through to skin-to-skin contact; I will help you to feel prepared and excited at every stage. You will also be taught an incredibly useful tool to help you remain in control on the day no matter what path your birthing takes.

Culminating all that you have learnt; I will take you through a birth rehearsal relaxation session; which will leave you both feeling calm, relaxed and excited to meet your baby.

We look at:

 

Enjoy ultimate relaxation with Soothing Strokes – with the use of a gentle massage; learn how to activate your endorphins (your body’s natural pain relief)

The workings of your pelvis in labour – and positions to help birth your baby more easily 

Birth humming – to help avoid any unnecessary pushing 

Birth partner’s role – practical advice & support for your birth partner to feel more prepared for the day on how best to support you both practically & emotionally

Step by step – insight into every stage of the birthing day from spotting the early signs of labour right through to when your holding baby in your arms and having those beautiful first cuddles.

 

Using your B.R.A.I.N.S – gives you a structed approach to asking questions so that you feel confident and empowered when making decisions that are right for you and your baby.

Breastfeeding – practical advice on how to help establish breastfeeding along with support groups 

Birth rehearsal relaxation – this is a truly beautiful session where all your learning is combined, to take you into a state of ultimate relaxation for the day of your baby’s birth
